Biography

Gillian Brent was born in 1959 in Bedfordshire. She studied BA Sculpture at Wimbledon School of Art and postgraduate Sculpture at St Martin’s School of Art, London.

Gillian moved to Sheffield in 1984 where she still lives and works as a sculptor. She is based at Yorkshire Artspace’s Persistence Works.

Gillian has exhibited extensively in galleries and outdoor venues throughout Britain since graduating including Tate Gallery, London. She undertakes public commissions and has artworks sited in public buildings and open spaces in Batley, Bolton, Bristol, Buckinghamshire, Doncaster, High Peak, Rotherham, Scunthorpe, and Sheffield.

Gillian also works as a practising artist in an educational context with galleries such as Tate Liverpool and Ikon, Birmingham, with Creative Partnerships, and with universities, schools, youth groups, arts and training organisations.
