
Gillian Brent was born in 1959 in Bedfordshire. She studied BA Sculpture at Wimbledon School of Art and postgraduate Sculpture at St Martin’s School of Art, London.
Gillian moved to Sheffield in 1984 where she still lives and works as a sculptor. She has a studio at Yorkshire Artspace’s Persistence Works.
Gillian has exhibited in many galleries and outdoor venues throughout Britain, including Tate Gallery, London. She has produced works for the public realm in consultation with local communities in Batley, Bolton, Bristol, Buckinghamshire, Doncaster, High Peak, Leicestershire, London, Nottingham, Rotherham, Scunthorpe and Sheffield.
Gillian is a Member of the Royal Society of Sculptors.
Gillian has also worked extensively as a practising artist in a learning and research context with galleries, universities, schools, youth groups, arts and training organisations.
