In parallel with her studio practice, Gillian works as an artist in a learning and engagement context with both adults and children in arts projects, public commissions and programmes in partnership with galleries, universities, public and community organisations. Much of her work has been with been with groups of some of the most socially disadvantaged and excluded people in our society

She has been working with art institutions since 2004, including Tate Liverpool, Ikon Birmingham, Nottingham Contemporary, The Hepworth Wakefield and Yorkshire Sculpture Park. She develops and facilitates workshops, resources and long term projects that engage people with modern and contemporary art, encouraging discussion and creative responses in a variety of media.
