Gillian Brent

‘On the Edge’ is a series of small sculptures where Gillian has clustered offcuts of steel into animated forms. She has chosen to take a step backward from her most recent work by not including cast or found objects but instead to construct mass from multiple linear elements.

The steel constructions are balanced on the edge of blocks of wood, which are then placed on top of pillars of hollow steel box section. Their positions imply they are interacting with the different materials and sculptural parts, and with space and gravity.
